The Sportsman Challenge Fantasy Baseball League recently completed our 2014 MLB Prospect Draft. Though the following results don’t comprise the order in which the prospects were drafted, I have listed the rostered prospects per team. In our league I allow each manager to roster 15 prospects along with their 32 active roster players. If a manager has 5 open prospect roster slots for example after promoting, trading or releasing a prospect they earn a draft slot in the following year’s prospect draft.
All of the players listed below were drafted over the last three years, and some of them comprise this year’s draftees. Some of the players drafted over the last few years have already been called up by their prospective owners.
We consider a player a prospect if he has less than 130 major league at bats or 50 major league innings pitched. Once a prospect reaches the limits set forth by our league, they have to be called up, traded, or released immediately. Some owners currently have less than the 15 prospect maximum on their minor league system team. They can pick up free agent prospects throughout the season to fill the empty slots or wait until next season to turn the empty slots into draft picks.
We have a ton of rules, but my managers are picking up on our new rules for this season quite quickly. We continue to strive to make our league be closest to the real thing as possible.. Each year we take big steps in the direction of making us all feel as though we are real life GMs/Owners.
Below are the minor league systems of each of the 9 teams in my league:
|Scared Hitless (15)||Cuban Defectors, Casey (15) MY TEAM||NEPA The Rookie (10)||American Shield (13)||Maryland Delicious Tears (13)|
(*Kris Bryant, Masahiro Tanaka, & Jose Abreu called up to active roster immediately after draft)
Jackie Bradley, Jr.
|Montreal Zombie Expos, Patrick (15)||Baltimore Stone Cold, Scott (15)||Wacha! Wacha! (13)||Sudden Impact (15)||Players Nearing Limits|
Lance McCullers, Jr.
Jackie Bradley, Jr.
(Let me know of others, some of these prospects are already in the majors, so please keep an eye on your limits.)
What kind of leagues are you all running/participating in?
