It was one heck of a way to finish their 2014 regular season home slate–a five hour, 15-inning marathon, finishing just after midnight, an outfielder as the winning pitcher, and a record crowd of 6,066. The State College Spikes (St. Louis Cardinals) used walk-off heroics from outfielder Collin Radack, and fellow outfielder Kenny Peoples-Walls pitched the final third of the 15th inning to pick up the win as the Spikes downed the Batavia Muckdogs (Miami Marlins) 13-12 on August 30.
Perhaps a Twitter post from Spikes pitcher Will Anderson says it best, “Wowwww! What a game! Crazy things happen after midnight.”
On January 1. 2014 I set out to open a pack of sports cards a day for the next year and document the experience. I am an avid sports fan and sports card collector of preferably autographs and relic cards.
