I had one of the crazier days of my career today. It was one of those fast paced everything happen or go wrong in the same day kind of days.  I made it to work day’s end and threw back a cold San Diego microbrew draft in celebration of making it to the weekend. I had Rip Current fresh from the brewery’s taproom and it hit the spot.  I highly recommend checking out their beer if you live in an area where you can access it.

During my quick lunch break today thoughts of baseball cards floated through my head.  I really looked forward to getting home and working on this post tonight.  I have been surprised by the number of people that have stopped by the site in the short period of its existence. My hits are getting hits.  I got two replies to my writing today which I have been waiting for like a kid hoping to catch a peek at Santa Claus coming down the chimney.  Thanks John Von Gunten for being the first to make me feel like I haven’t been talking to myself, might say you’re my Big Guy in Red!

I’m home now, today’s wax is cracked, and I must say I am very happy with the cards that awaited my arrival.  The momentum leading up to tomorrow’s 4th pack has continued to build. Here is today’s hits:

Gold Card- Brett Jackson #4
Gold Card- Brett Jackson #4

This was a good pack.  A numbered insert, a gold card, and a Chrome Prospect Byron Buxton, who just happens to be the top prospect in baseball.  Buxton cards have hit multiple times already and I am only on left pack 3.  The base cards were good as well, 3 out of 4 being decent stars. It was nice to get another gold card, but Jackson looks like he’s going to be a bust of a prospect after showing signs of being much more.

Leading into tomorrow’s 4th pack, today’s cracking provided some hype and lead in for what is ahead.  Can I hold out for tomorrow or do I crack tomorrow’s pack open at midnight east coast time tonight?  I can’t bring myself to that, but I fear that cracking monster will linger throughout this project…open more, consume more, collect more.  It’s a struggle we all fight with collecting, right?  This project has led to a struggle of wanting to go through more than one pack a day, especially with products like a sealed box of 2013 Bowman Sterling waiting for me to free it from it’s cellophane wrapping….rapping, ‘rapping at my chamber door’…rapping, rapping…open some more!

With my urge to keep opening curbed by the call of hunger, I have beaten back the wax cracking temptress that harkens for discovering the inhabitants of another pack. The excitement for tomorrow’s pack continues to build along with the enjoyment I am getting from this project so far.

In the sports world tonight, the Orange Bowl is turning out to be a good one.  Sorry, Doug Booher, I am pulling for Clemson tonight. I am still bothered by Urban Meyer leaving his Florida gig to spend more time with his family only to return to a padded job with Ohio State…did you really get sick of the family that fast, Urban? As far as the big fake money parlay bet I shared with you last night, it went down faster than a mob hit sinking to the depths of a North Jersey swamp.  The bet was over before it started with the Knicks somehow beating the Spurs in San Antonio, the Nets conquering the Thunder in OKC, and Alabama dropping a deuce on the national stage.  This goes to prove there is no sure thing in beating.

Have a great night and thanks for reading along if you made it this far through my ramblings.  Take care and get to cracking….open some more…open some more!
